Jean Martin - Suitcase, Justin Haynes - Ukulelle, Ryan Driver - Streetsweeper Bristle

Justin Haynes, Jean Martin, and Ryan Driver are prominent figures of Toronto’s experimental music scene. Their current trio project is an offshoot of the recently released “Freedman” album.

Haynes and Martin interpret quirky and haunting ditties on two decidedly humble instruments: the ukulele and the suitcase (used as a drum). The interpretations are not strict readings, but rather loose improvisatory renderings filled with inventive interplay and delightfulness. The Music is composed by Myk Freedman (Toronto/Composer, Saint Dirt Elementary School). To round out the bottom end of this trio, they have added Ryan Driver to play a bristle from a street-sweeper that acts as a fretless bass by being plucked on the edge of an amplified table.
